Shooting Chefs
17 November 2015
This past summer was mostly spent tearing around Cornwall photographing chefs and dishes for the Great Cornish Fish Book by Cornwall Food & Drink. It was an experience that will stay with me for a long time, visiting some of Cornwall's awesomely talented chefs and photographing them at work. It felt like a privilege to be in their company.
It's been an interesting exercise looking back over these images given that a little bit of time has passed since the book was published at the end of September. Not many of these portraits made the cut for the book itself but have become favourites of mine in terms of how I remember the moment. I find the behind-the-scenes element of kitchens exciting and fascinating, there is an energy and edge that's totally absorbing.
All shot with natural light and the majority using my beloved 35mm f1.8 Nikon prime lens.
