The Hidden Hut
Photographing The Hidden Hut through the season.
Long-term photography projects are rare as sunshine on a January day in Cornwall, but such a joy when they happen. The chance to immerse yourself in a place, observe and shoot over several years is a privilege. I worked with Simon, Jemma, and the team at the Hidden Hut between 2015 and 2019, attending their famous feast nights in all winds and weathers. There to record not just the changing of the seasons in such an open, exposed coastal location, but how the Hidden Hut itself has evolved over time as well, from feasts on the beach to serving world leaders at the G7 summit in 2021.
In 2018 the Hidden Hut cookbook was published to much fanfare and it was a proud moment to see some of these shots used throughout the book, providing a sense of time and place.
It’s also worth noting the generosity of spirit at the Hut, I don’t think we’ve ever been so well fed whilst on the job!
Sal captured our feast nights so brilliantly and subtly, week in week out, whatever the weather. You and your Nikon have become a much-loved part of our team.
